In 1994, John Powers, a former employee of a company owned by Rob Brown, with encouragement from Rob, started Metal Concepts to build backflow enclosures. In the late 1990s, he designed what is now our Sharpshooter Shovel. The company started in a small warehouse with a single employee. Due to health issues in 2007, John sold Metal Concepts to Rob Brown and another business partner. Metal Concepts was combined with a Division of Agave Environmental Contracting that built steel fencing, backflow cages, and decorative steel ramadas for large master-planned communities and parks. The marriage of these entities became the current day company Metal Concepts, LLC. Metal Concepts has grown and now produces all products in a warehouse in Phoenix. All materials used are American made, and local companies’ services are utilized for various aspects of production. Rob Brown became the sole owner in March 2018 and has focused on getting the company’s products out to buyers who will benefit from their use.
